“We are now really looking at how we can create societal impact and what business model can be offered with the technical solutions that are already available.”<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thanks to the approval of the Top Sector Energy subsidy application, Metalot, together with regional project partners ZEnMO Simulations<\/strong>, ZLTO<\/strong>, Team SHIFT<\/strong>, SPIE Nederland<\/strong>, Blue Turtle Development<\/strong>, and the Sustainable STOER Foundation<\/strong>, can begin research into a total solution for the entire Metal Power chain. In this chain, iron powder is burned without CO\u2082 emissions, releasing energy that can be used in households, industry, or for electricity generation. This burned iron powder can be converted back into iron powder suitable for combustion using renewable energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

“For this research, we are no longer looking at the individual devices in the chain but at how the overall picture would fit into society,<\/em>” says Raoul. “The Metal Power chain can offer freedom and independence for local energy cooperatives or industry and presents interesting opportunities for reducing congestion issues, facilitating the energy transition for cluster 6 companies, and ensuring energy security for built environments<\/em>.”<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Future has been involved in Metalot\u2019s projects since day one.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Future supported the definition, writing, and submission of the application to Top Sector Energy. Luuk Rousseau <\/strong>from The Future was involved in the application:<\/span><\/p>\n

“To move from technology push to market pull, the logical step was to look at the overall chain, analyze its impacts and challenges, and present them. And, importantly, to identify the first realization opportunities with the partners. That\u2019s why we, as Metalot, decided to submit this application with the project partners to kickstart the implementation in society.”<\/em><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“Subsidies from Top Sector Energy exist for innovations like the Metal Power chain\u2014innovations that help accelerate the energy transition while keeping it affordable and reliable. Metalot’s goal is accelerating the energy transition by developing and preparing promising technologies such as Metal Power (Iron Power), hydrogen and large-scale innovative energy storage for the generation of green energy for the heat-intensive industry.
