In practice, owners, Owners&#8217; Associations (VvEs), and housing corporations encounter the same bottlenecks:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Uncertainty regarding which measures truly have priority per building and budget;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Limited certainty that promised savings will actually be achieved;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">High costs and long lead times for renovation studies, especially for apartments with central heating systems; andInstallers struggling to structurally guarantee performance during operation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">With OptiRenO, ReSolution and Integer Technologies B.V. are therefore developing an integrated approach that brings renovation planning and operational energy management together in a single solution.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span class=\"font-175577\">The solution: from renovation advice to guaranteed performance<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">OptiRenO combines two complementary technologies:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">ReSolution uses AI to optimize the renovation package per building and budget: identifying which measures deliver the greatest impact, in the correct order, and fitting within financial frameworks. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Integer Technologies provides smart control and monitoring of installations, ensuring that the intended performance is realized and secured in practice.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">The result is a single integrated chain solution: advice \u2192 planning \u2192 execution \u2192 energy management in operation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"font-175577\">Focus on apartments with central systems<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">The project focuses on apartment complexes with shared heating and energy systems. This segment in particular is:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Technically complex (collective installations, resident mix, variation in building envelope quality); <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Costly to prepare (high study costs); and <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Crucial for scale (a significant portion of the housing stock).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">OptiRenO makes renovation for this type of complex faster, cheaper, and more predictable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span class=\"font-175577\">Intended impact and business case<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">With OptiRenO, renovation becomes financially and operationally more feasible. The intended effects (as included in the project principles) include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">15\u201325% lower installation and operational costs;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">20\u201340% lower energy consumption per building;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Up to 50% lower energy bills;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">10\u201315% CO\u2082 reduction; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Substantial reduction in study costs and lead time, with a clear acceleration of decision-making<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">In addition, the approach contributes to regional challenges such as grid congestion (through smarter and more efficient energy use) and accelerating the energy transition. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span class=\"font-175577\">Results and deliverables<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">Within the project, OptiRenO delivers three concrete, verifiable results:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Operational MVP: integrated web tool with AI backend;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Validation in 3 representative complexes (including porch houses, towers, and gallery flats); and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Efficiency improvement: approximately 50% lower study costs and 5\u201310 times shorter lead time for renovation studies.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">The tool builds upon existing knowledge and data-driven renovation insights (including from research lines such as Renovation Explorer) and increases the applicability of renovation studies to a larger proportion of the housing stock, partly through the use of open data sources (such as 3D BAG).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span class=\"font-175577\">Funding<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">OptiRenO has been successfully awarded funding within the innovation program of the Eindhoven Metropolitan Area (MRE). Thanks to this support, ReSolution and Integer Technologies can:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Accelerate the development of the MVP; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Conduct practical validation in three buildings,<span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">and demonstrate that renovation decisions and performance can be structurally better substantiated and secured.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"font-175577\">Role of The Future<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">The Future assisted with setting up, developing, and successfully submitting the MRE innovation application. The focus here was on:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Sharp problem definition and scope delineation (target group, building type, regional challenge);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Work packages, planning, and deliverables (MVP + pilots);<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\">Impact logic and substantiation of effect and scalability; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"font-175577\"><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">Application quality in relation to assessment criteria.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"font-family: Montserrat;\">Also submitting an MRE grant application?<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"font-175577\">Are you an entrepreneur, knowledge institution, or government body working on an innovation project concerning, for example, energy, digitalisation, sustainability, or livability in the MRE?
