Advancing Circular Energy Carriers: The Future BV at Metalot@Work

Advancing Circular Energy Carriers: The Future BV at Metalot@Work

On Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, The Future BV was present at the latest edition of Metalot@Work. Representing our team, Fränk de Jong attended the event, which focused entirely on advanced reduction technologies—a critical component of the circular Metal Fuels ecosystem, to which The Future BV is a committed partner.

The Metal Fuels ecosystem revolves around the use of iron powder as a circular energy carrier, offering a groundbreaking solution for large-scale energy storage and transport. By integrating oxidation and reduction processes, this ecosystem creates a reusable, low-emission technology aligned with the ambitions of a resilient, future-proof energy system.

Collaboration Driving Innovation

Metalot plays a pivotal role in this ecosystem—not only as a technological catalyst but also as a key facilitator of funding and network development. The Future BV is proud to be a partner in scaling up this cross-border ecosystem, supporting both its strategic direction and systemic impact.

The event program showcased a broad spectrum of technical developments and international expertise, with contributions from Team SOLID, TNO, Better/e, HyIron, and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. These sessions demonstrated how cutting-edge reduction technologies can significantly accelerate the transition to circular energy carriers based on iron powder—paving the way for meaningful CO₂ reduction at an industrial scale.

Strengthening Networks Through Knowledge Sharing

Our presence at Metalot@Work goes beyond mere attendance. It reaffirms The Future BV’s role as a connector in the energy transition—actively contributing to ecosystem development through knowledge sharing, strategic partnerships, and innovation acceleration.
