EduXR: Building the Future of XR in Education

EduXR: Building the Future of XR in Education

Flemish and Dutch educators join forces in a cross-border project making XR (Extended Reality) more accessible for trainers in the healthcare and energy sectors.

Last week, we submitted the application for the EduXR Library under the Interreg Flanders-Netherlands program, a cross-border project aimed at integrating XR technology into education. The project specifically targets trainers in the healthcare and energy sectors in both Flanders and the Netherlands. EduXR’s goal is to collaborate with educators, students, and partners to build a shared XR library, develop innovative XR applications, and integrate them effectively into educational systems, ensuring that students and professionals are fully prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

Collaboration for Innovation

With EduXR, we are actively supporting the integration of XR in education by offering shared access to innovative XR applications. This will enable educators to leverage cutting-edge technology in their teaching methods, resulting in more interactive and hands-on learning experiences. The project aims to create joint support among educators for the use of XR in education. It achieves this by setting up a shared library with common applications; by making joint agreements regarding IP and cost coverage; and also by training teachers and providing administrators with guidance for policy development.

Why Join?

Participants in the EduXR project will have the opportunity to:

  • Access shared innovative XR applications that can be directly implemented in educational settings.
  • Collaborate with experts within a community of XR professionals and educators.
  • Use inspiring examples and practical tools to effectively incorporate XR into lessons and training programs.

Launching in 2025

The project is expected to launch in the spring of 2025. Educators, businesses, and others involved in XR or interested in integrating this technology into education are invited to be part of this innovative ecosystem. Together, we can explore the full potential of XR in education and ensure that future generations are prepared for the challenges ahead.

Partners and Stakeholders

EduXR is made possible through a collaboration between several leading institutions, including The Future, Thomas More, VIVES University of Applied Sciences, Avans University of Applied Sciences, Applied University of Zeeland, Curio, Syntra Antwerp and Flemish Brabant (Syntra AB), and Flux50. These partners are working together to bring XR technology into the education of the future.
